A New Phase of Life

There has been a lot going on these past 3 months. Nate graduated with his masters in mechanical engineering, we had our baby boy, and bought a house!!! Things are crazy right now, but we love it! I'll post lots more pics of the house and it's sweet 1/2 acre backyard when we get moved in in a few days.

We love our newest addtion! A few things about him are:
1: He is named after my dad who passed away from cancer when I was 6.
2: He arrived 3 1/2 weeks early. Mom is glad becauce if he would have gone full term there would have been a good chance I would have delieved atleast a 9 lb baby.
3: He was born after only being at the hospital for 11 minuets!! Scary!
4: He is such a good baby and we can't imagine our lives without him!

We has a great Halloween this year. Addie was Minnie Mouse and loved it. I had so much fun this year making our home all festive, making Addie's costume, making a special Sunday outfit, lots of sugar cookies, carving pumpkins, and great memories.

We are still here, just very busy like eveyone else.
Here is what's going on in our lives:

~Nate is working full time at Hill Air-force Base as a mechanical/aerospace engineer AND taking a full load of gradschool classes. We don't see a lot of daddy, but he is working very hard and still makes some time for us and we love every minute of it.
~Addie is growing up TOO FAST!! She can count to 2 is learning her colors. Her favorite is Green, for Aunty Bobo. She is just talking up a storm and loves anything that deals with Mickey Mouse or Sesame street. She loves to color, clean, and help mommy cook and sew.
She also starts nursery next week. SHe is getting so big!
~ Mommy is crazy busy keeping everyone happy, fed, cleaning the house working on lots of project, canning, babysitting 3 days a week( all day), running and taking sewing classes.
We may be busy but we are loving every minutle of

The Swiss Days 10K is my favorite run of the year. This year my brother-in-law and sister-in-law also ran it. It was a blast. Perfect weather, great company and my best 10k time ever. That was great but the best part was watching and cheering on Addie in her FIRST race!!! She ran in the 0-2 year old group and did great. I was one proud momma!! Start'n em young!!

Where has summer gone. I thought it was about time to update. Our summer has consisted of family vacations, reunions, gardening and of course lots of outside time. Here are a few pics of our summer.

Chill'n on the princess couch before bed. She loves to just sit and read in this spot.

This is our pot at our community garden. We (mostly I) wanted to try our hand at growing a garden this summer and Logan, like most places, offers plots at the community garden. You get to plant and do things however you want. They provide the earth, tools, and water but you have to do everything else. This is what it looked like when we got it weeded, tilled, and planted in May.

And this is what it looks like today. We have had 9 good size tomatoes, 5 cherry tomatoes, lots of lettuce and 4 zucchini so far and there is SO MUCH more coming on everyday. We are so excited that it has been a success so far and it looks like we will be planting a garden every year to come.

Wasatch Back Ragnar Relay 2010

This past weekend I joined in and ran the Ragnar Relay Wasatch Back from Logan to Park City 188miles long. It was a blast and our team made every sleep deprived minute and muscle ache worth it.

Addie Takes New York

We took our first family vacation this summer and headed back east. We played in Connecticut and New York City and had a BLAST!!! Addie did awesome flying and being hauled around everywhere. I know this is late, but our internet hasn't been working.

Last Sunday we had lots to celebrate!!! Addie turned 1! and it was Mothers Day!! Who could ask for a better day. We can't believe that a year has gone by since Addie has joined our family. She was born the day before Mothers Day last year and is the best Mothers Day give one could ask for. We can't imagine what our lives would be like without her. We LOVE you Addie! We celebrated with family and had a blast!

This was my very first attempt at a cake like this and I actually enjoyed it. This is Abby Cadabby from Sesame Street. That was kind of the theme of the party. If you look close at the other pics I made Addie a matching tutu. Unfortantly it was a little chilly outside so her jacket kind of hid it. It was still so much fun to do.

Of course she got an Abby doll and her first football from Uncle Brycee. It is now one of her fav toys.

Finally an Update

Finally here is a look at some of what has been going on with us lately. Some of the pics maybe out of order but oh well.

Here is Addie in her Easter dress. It was pretty windy outside and we also have a spaz for a daughter so her pics are a little silly.

Addie LOVES the park. We try to go almost every day because she has so much fun and mommy is SO sick of being inside all the time.

A friend and I took our kids to Baby Animals Days. They did so well especially considering that neither of them really got a nap. Addie loved all the animal and even liked petting the little chicks and ducklings. We say tons of animals including some baby bears, took a wagon ride, and just enjoyed the wonderful spring weather. Although Addie loved the animals, by far her favorite park was banging on the drums. (if you couldn't tell by the pics)

Conference weekend we went to Salt Lake. Nate and I were lucky enough to get tickets for Sat morning. Addie got to play with her cousin Carter. They are such good little buddies.

Addie's new thing is opening and pulling EVERYTHING out. We've locked all but two so she can still have some fun and be entertained while I make dinner.

This was an outing to feed the ducks, but it turned into feed seagulls instead because there were 3 seagulls to every duck.

We are still here, just very busy. Addie is growing and learning so fast. In a week she will be 9 months old! CRAZY!!! She never stops. She has now decided that crawling isn't good enough and is in the beginning stages of walking. AAAHHHHH Better get the my running shoes on. She pulls herself up on anything and everything and will let go, balance, and then try to take 1 or 2 steps before sitting down. SHe is a little smarty pants who loves to read and look at books as well as watch Baby Einstein. We have also started to use a little sign language with her. We know she is young but she has been really into copy catting (sp?) and so we decided to start her on just a few signs. We love her and just are having so much fun with this little spaz!!

I have to tell the story of these 2 pics. Yesterday Nate and I were talking and Addie was pushing this box around. (One of her favorite things otherwise we would have gotten rid of it) when Nate say "look at what she is doing!" I turned around and she had pushed the box over to the couch, climbed onto it, stood up, and then climbed onto the couch! She is too little to be that smart!

Addie has been eating the little Gerber Puffs for a few weeks now and loves them. Well this morning at breakfast she just reached down and pick one up off her high chair tray and popped it in her mouth like it was now big deal. Me on the other hand started cheering and praising her like any other mom would do. Now she love to pick them up off her tray or out for you hand and feed herself!!! Way to go Addie!!!!!!

One more note to add: Addie pulled her self up in her crib this morning which means time to lower the mattress and start baby proofing because she has been getting up on her hands and knee and rocking or inching her way around on her tummy. I know one of these days I am going to turn around and she will be crawling. Yikes!!

6 Months and Going Strong

Addie turned 6 months old on Monday!! We can't believe how fast time has gone and how grown up she is getting. Today she went for her checkup and shots(yuk). Here are her stats:
Weight: 15 lbs 4 oz
Height: 26 in
Perfect health
Addie is a baby on the go now. She ether rolls, inches on her belly, or both to get anywhere and everywhere. We are going to have to start blocking off a few things already because she is quite the little smarty pants and has figured out how to open the entertainment center doors and pull books off shelves. (Little stinker!) She absolutely LOVES her baby food and will eat anything and everything we giver her. The doc said she can have almost anything we eat, minus a few, as long as you can blend it in a blender. So I guess it is chicken and mash potatoes for dinner tonight! She also loves to give kisses. Sometime they are extremely slobbery, but how could you not a want a kiss from her!!! She is the CUTEST little girl and we love her so much!!!

Addie's newest thing is playing steamroller. Now that she knows that she can move herself to where she wants or to a new toy, she goes crazy. She doesn't care what's in her way. If she can she just keeps on roll'n from one end of the room to the next. Addie and I also went to visit Gma and Papa. Nate had a HUGE school project and was so busy that we thought we would just let him focus and go play at Grandma's. Addie loved all the attention and had so much fun.

Today Addie got a new hairdo... She is now a "Pebbles Baby" Her hair is plenty long enough to do it, but it makes her look too grown up. Swiss Days

This past weekend we headed up to Midway, UT for the annual Swiss Days Festival. We had fun eating the HUGE breakfast they serve and wandering around all of the different booths. This year I also ran the 10k. I was nervous because I didn't do any warm up training, I just decided to do it. The Tuesday before I ran 6.5 mils just to see how long it would take and then got up at 4:00 Sat morning and ran. It was so fun and beautiful. I think this will become a yearly tradition! Nate and Addie were there to support me at the start and cheer for me at the finish!! As always Addie continues to grow and change. She is the cutest little girl ever. She has found her voice and loves to talk, talk, talk. It melts our hearts.

Our little Addie is now 3 months old. She continues to grow and change everyday. She can follow you around the room with her eyes, hold toys, hold her head up, roll from back to side, and just be plain cute. We love her and love watching her grow. Here are some of the things we have been up to in the last few weeks.

A week ago we headed up to Park City to have what Nate calls a "mini vacation." We had a blast hanging out with my fam from Sunday til Wednesday. We also went to the Berrett family reunion on Monday. It was a lot of fun to see that side of the fam. Here are some highlights.

We have had some fun times the last few weeks. For the 4th of July we headed up to my parent's house in Idaho to hang out with my family. We had lots of fun. Ellie and Addie we so fun to see together. We also played a rousing game of croquet, went skeet shooting, let of fireworks, and just hung out. Some of the pics are out of order. Addie also had her 2 month checkup and shots. She did so well. She is 10 lbs 13 oz 50th percentile, 23 1/2 inches 75 percentile
and her head circumference is in the 35th percentile. So right now she is long, and happy!! She is also doing tummy time and enjoys it for the first little while. She knows mommy and daddy and smiles and talks to us all the time. We love just hanging out with our little one.

Addie is growing and changing so much these days. I can't believe that she will be 2 months!! Time is passing so fast. Her latest thing is smiling and cooing. She knows who mommy and daddy are and it is so fun to see her face light up when you play with her. We (mostly I) have had so much fun dressing her up. Even though we might not leave the house everyday, she still get dolled up and a bow in her hair. She has already out grown all her newborn clothes and is wearing her 3 month ones. We can't believe that a whole month has already passed us by. Addie continues to melt our hearts everyday. We love having her in our lives. She has grown so much already and her little personality comes out more and more each day. We love this cutie SO MUCH!!!

I love this pic. Addie is a MAJOR tummy sleeper. I know that you're not suppose to put babies to sleep on their tummies, but it we want her to sleep more than 10 mins (I'm not exaggerating) we have to put her on her tummy or hold her. It only took us a month, lots of sleepless nights, and days where nothing got done to figure this out. She looks like a cute little stink bug and we check on her often enough to make sure she is ok. Now mommy gets to sleep too and get lots done during nap times.

This past weekend we made our first trip to Salt Lake. Nate's Grandma Whipple had a family baby shower for Linsey, ,Carter, Addie and I. Linsey is Nate's older brother Chris' wife. They had their little boy Carter on May 6th so he and Addie are only 3 days apart. They got to meet for the first time on Sat. It was fun so see them side-by-side. You can tell they are related, but are very different. We also went and saw Nate's other grandparents and had fun introducing Addie to them. Nate's mom turned 55 on Sat. She had a great time spending it with her first two grandkids.

Here are a few pics of our adventure so far. Addie has had fun meeting her aunts, uncles, and grandparents. We are kind of starting to get the hang of things around here. We are tired, but love our little girl. Here crazy hair and funny faces melt our hearts and are make the lack of sleep worth it. Well here we are at 36 and a half weeks. I still feel great and things are moving right along. Went to the doc today and she is doing great!!!! I'm finishing up the bumper pads for the crib and a few other projects that I hope have done before she comes. I also was quite proud that I can still paint my own toenails despite having a basketball up my shirt.

Spring Fever

This past weekend Nate and I headed down to St. George. The weather was beautiful, 70's and we had fun hanging out with his family, going 4wheeling, and catching up with friends. We also caught up with my fam in Provo. The boys had fun putting together Elli's new big wheel.
It was a great weekend and as usual went way too fast. It was hard to come back to the cold weather of Logan, school, and work, but we hope spring will soon come and along with that graduation for Nate as well as our little one.

In the words of Emperor Kuzco "BooM BabY!!!" That is how I have felt these last couple of weeks. Our countdown is now in the double digits.....CRAZY!!!!! I have also really started "nesting" as some would call it and it has been fun. Our little one is so spoiled already. She has 3/4 of a closet of clothes, toys, and all of these other goodies. Nate just shakes his head, but I know that he is learning to like pink girly stuff. He has even picked out outfits for her. I have been working on quite a few projects over the last few weekends. I just finished the new covering for the bassinet. This is the one my mom used for me and I am so excited to get to use it too. It just needed a little updating. I am now waiting on the fabric that I ordered so that I can begin working on all the crib bedding and bumper pads. I love being able to create my own stuff and make it personal for our little one. She is continuing to grow. I have my checkup tomorrow and we will see what progress she has made in the last month. I still think she is going to be on the small side, but she is getting bigger and stronger every week.

You can see the pile of blankets beginning and believe me I have tons more fabric to create with!Not to mention the growing piles from the grandmas too.

This is the bassinet. It was a little tricky because I had no pattern and had to freehand it, but I think it turned out pretty good. Not sure if I will leave the flower on it or not, and I still need to add a few decorative things here and there.

This little guy is a giraffe that my mom got. It sings the cutest goodnight song. I'll play it every now and then just for laughs. You can also see the growing pile of diapers that we have started to collect. People keep telling us to stock up now.

And finally for all those of you who have requested it.... a belly shot. Please excuse the bags under my eyes, it had been a long day at work. To be honest she just popped out these last few weeks. I went from not looking prego to BOOM BABY here she is. Now there is no hiding this little bundle of wiggles.

Almost 6 Months

Yesterday I had my monthly checkup and things are right on schedule. She has a nice strong heartbeat and is moving like crazy these days. I have finally started to gain weight. My total pregnancy weight is a whopping 7 lbs. Still on the low side, but we are at least finally moving in the right direction. Our little one is also running on the small side, but she has a strong heartbeat and all the ultrasounds pics look perfect so I'm not going to worry or complain. She is just taking after her mommy who was less than 6 lbs instead of her daddy who was over 9 lbs. We have started putting things together in her room so we'll post pics on that soon. We get more and more excited for her to come everyday!

Flavor of the Week

While being pregnant I really haven't had any of those make a midnight run to the store or fast food joint, but I do have what Nate has come to call my "Flavor of the Week." We do our grocery shopping about every 2 weeks and almost every time there is something new that I want on that trip that I didn't want before and is different then last trips treat. Usually I try to keep it at least semi healthy since I know that I will at least quadruple the suggested serving size every time. This time it is Chocolate Animal Crackers. I have always love chocolate Teddy Grahams, but cant justify pay $2.75 for a small box so when I saw the BIG BAG of Chocolate Animal Crackers for $1.30 there was no passing that up. So now all I need is a glass of milk and my chocolate animal crackers and I am a happy camper. Nate just laughs at my randomness and says ok honey. We'll just have to wait and see what the next flavor will be.....

A Wii Fun Christmas

This past week has been very busy and enjoyable. Last Monday we found out that we are having a...............

GIRL!!!!!!

We couldn't be more excited! She is a wiggle worm and has been from the beginning. I started feeling her movements for the first time around Thanksgiving and now she is so much stronger and moving like crazy. Our doc calls her a little gymnast and she lives up to that every day. Her movements have been strong enough for Nate to feel. He can put his hand on my belly and feel her kicking and rolling around in there. He loves to do that every night. I love the reassurance of her movements and am enjoying having this little life growing in me.

As for Christmas......

We spent it up in Twin with my fam. The whole gang was there and we had a blast. My parents got a Wii for Christmas and all of us (mom and dad included) spent the next 3 days playing it. We got tons of fun things for our little bun it the oven and some of the cutest closes that I can't wait to doll her up in. We also got lots of movies and games to keep the fun going for months. We also had a great time time with our little niece too.

Nate enjoyed racing strollers with her and it made me even more excited that we too will have a little girl for him to bond with.

Here is quick update on what going on in our lives. Nate is in the marathon portion of the semester. With only 3 weeks left the teachers are piling it on. He is up at the school all day, comes home for a quick dinner, and then heads back up till around midnight. He is working so hard and soon it will be time for a much needed break. Meanwhile I go to work, come home, make dinner, see my hubby for about 30 mins, give him a little pep talk, clean up, read, and then fall asleep (usually around 8:30) until Nate returns and we read scriptures and say prayers and then it's out for the night. Sometimes other things get thrown in there, but lets face it our lives are pretty boring right now.
As for a baby update..... I went in for my monthly checkup. I can't believe that it is almost 4 months already. Time is flying by so fast. We chatted with the doc for a few minutes, went over some things to do in the next 4 weeks to maybe help me gain a little weight. I have lost almost 5 lbs but no worry just yet. My belly is growing, I am down to 2 pair of pants the I can still button and not use the rubber band trick. Thank goodness I get to wear scrubs for work and be comfy. We also found out that we will be getting an AWESOME CHRISTMAS PRESENT, we get to find out the sex of the baby on Dec 22nd. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!! Another positive note is that the heartburn has calmed down, at least for now, so food and sleeping actually laying down is enjoyable again. Thanks for all your tips and to good meds!!!

So I think I may have cursed myself when I said I had been lucky and not very sick. It is 2:10 a.m and I can't sleep. For the last week and especially the last few days, I have had heartburn like you wouldn't believe. I have tried several meds and thought I found the right one today, but no. Because of this, I don't sleep well; I have to sleep sitting up which gets really old really fast, and then when I do actually get some sleep I wake up with every muscle in my neck and back screaming at me. I've tried to be careful of what, when, and how much I eat, but with little success. So all of those out there who know what I am talking about... HELP!!! If you have any advise PLEASE SEND IT MY WAY. My doc said that if none of the otc drugs work, he has some stuff but it doesn't taste too good. Help!

So the answer to your question is yes, I'm pregnant!!!

My due date is May 18th which makes me 12 weeks on Monday. I can't believe that I am already through the first trimester! I have been pretty lucky as far as being sick. I haven't missed a single day of work, but a few trips to see the white throne have been made and my trash can has been my good buddie these last couple of weeks. It has almost all past now and I am feeling so much better now and am getting back to the gym and normal life, kind of.

This one is from today at 11.5 weeks and maybe we should be calling it our "Little Limelett"since that's about its size now.

This will make grandbaby #2 for my family and #1 or #2 for Nate's family. My sister-in-law, Nate's older bother's wife, is also pregnant and we are due within a week of each other. We are SO EXCITED for this and now to be able to share our new with all of you. We kept it on the down low mostly because it is my very first pregnancy and so you never know what would happen in the scary first little while, but we now have the all clear to shout it out!!! Ya hoo!!!!!!!!!!!

Fun in the Fall

Yesterday Nate's parents, little sister, and some of her friends came up to Logan. We went and picked out pumpkins for next weekend's family Halloween carving night and then hit one of the local corn mazes. (There are about 7-8 in Cache Valley alone) The one we went to had this huge pyramid made of giant hay bales and all these tunnels that wound around inside. Nate and I couldn't resist climbing around in it. We then hit the corn maze. Surprisingly it didn't take us too long to get through. Once it got dark we went through the haunted river trail. It was hilarious. When you have four 14 year old girls with you that scream at the top of their lungs at every movement and sound it was more comical then scary. However, we did jump a few times when things would pop out and fall on us. It was a fun night and we look forward to next weekend when we will be with the Nate's whole family for some dinner in a pumpkin, carving contest, card tournaments, and other festive activities when we get together at the Whipple cabin.

When Nate and I got married we only had about 20 min to a half hour to do pics of just us. We got a few and they turned out pretty well, but we didn't get to do all the fun and different photo op spots. Nate's cousin was our photographer and is very talented so she said that we would just go back after things settled down. Well things didn't settle down and we never got to go back, but we did however find time a year later. I know it is kind of weird, but we (I) wanted some fun ones to put up around our home and do fun decorating things with them. We got them done almost one year to the date. They turned out AMAZING and I am so excited to get some printed and framed and just had to share some of our favorites.

Since I don't have to worry about school any more and I don't ever see my husband now that he spends all his time at work, school or doing homework and studying, I have started working on all the projects I never had time to in the past. Last week it was painting some shelves and rocking chair a new color and reupholstering it. It took longer than I thought, but now that they are done, I love them.

Swiss Days and Tomatoes!!!

This past weekend was a blast. Nate and I headed down to Salt Lake to do some things with Nate's family. Sat morning we went up to Midway, up past Park City/ Heber area, to a festival called Swiss Days. It is this huge thing where they have live entertainment, all these craft booths and shops, and tons of food. We found a few really fun things and enjoyed the snow cones and Navajo tacos. We spent the rest of the time canning/bottling tomatoes. WE DID 86 QUARTS OF TOMATOES!!!! It was long, but we had fun chatting with Nate's grandparents and hearing all kinds of stories and advice on life. We a blast and came away with 11 jars of our own and now know how to can a few different things.

Trip to Twin

This past weekend Nate and I headed up to Twin to visit family and friends as well as attend the Twin Falls Temple Dedication. It was a wonderful ceremony and we were glad we could attend. While there I also got to see some of my very good friends Bethany and Morgan and their baby Claire. She was so cute and we had a blast spending some time and catching up with them. We had a great weekend and now it's back to the grind stone of work and school.

Last night Nate decided to tackle the job of putting new brakes on our car. The old ones have gotten pretty bad and now that we are back at our place with all his tools and a bigger and cleaner place to work it was time to get the job done. Nate's old roommate and good friend Justin came over and helped out. These two love working on their cars together and it makes for good male bonding time. Nate love working on cars and I will say I don't mind it either because it saves us a lot of money and inconvenience too.

So now that we are FINALLY back in Logan, here is an update on what's been up. Last Saturday Nate and I celebrated our 1st anniversary!!!! I can't believe how fast it has flown by and we are excited to see what adventures this next one will bring us!!

Classiness

Last night Nate and I spent a night on the town. We began with doing a session in the Reno temple. It was so beautiful. It was a really small temple, but the feeling there was just the same. We were really excited to go. Last week we got to help clean the inside of the temple too. After that we grabbed a bite to eat at Jimmy Johns subs, which we love. We then headed to Hot August Nights. It is a HUGE classic car thing that goes on for an entire week and people from all over the country bring their cars to display. We had such a fun date night and love our new camera too!!! It is super nice!

Finally after a long month with no camera our new arrived!! Our old one fell off a rock in Yosemite National Park on the 4th of July and cracked and jammed the lens so it was no longer in service. We decided that since we were going to fork out the money for a new one we should get one that would hopefully last more than year. (We bought our old one the day after we got married so it didn't even make it a year!!!) We really liked our last Olympus so we researched a bunch and found this one.

I Would Walk/Run 500 Miles....

So this week I will hit a huge goal of mine. After getting settled here, I made it my goal to run/walk at least 500+ miles this summer to lose some of my winter insulation, get in better shape, and get ready to possible have a little one. So here's what my weekly routine consists of.... Monday through Friday I ride out to Nate's work with him and then run back to our apartment, which is about 4-5 miles depending on the route I take. I then shower and walk to and from my work that is about 2 miles each way so that tacks on another 4 miles for the day. Sat and Sunday on my rest days. Nate and I are usually out and about on Sat exploring the beauty around us or working. Sunday is my big rest day. My weekly total is anywhere from 35-40+ miles a week. It has made a huge difference in the way I feel and look. This week I will hit and surpass my goal of 500+ miles!!! I don't know how much weight I have lost pounds wise, but I know that I can pull my pants/shorts on and off without unbuttoning them. I also tried on a pair of size 8 pants the other day and though they were a little tight and not yet comfortable enough to wear just yet, I hope that by the end of the summer they will be. Besides the weight thing, this has saved us on a ton of gas. Gas is over $4.60 a gallon out here, so filling up is a hard thing to do. If we don't go too far from home, we can go a whole month on one tank of gas and that my friends is also another huge incentive to walk anywhere we can. As far as the eating goes, no real change there, except adding a lot more fresh fruits and veggies from the local farmers markets. This summer has gone by so fast and though we have enjoyed it here, we can't wait to get back to Logan. Pics will follow soon, once we get our new camera next week since our old one decided to jump off a rock in Yosemite National Park on the 4th of July.
I also just wanted to say congrats to Beth and Morgan on their new baby Claire! She is adorable and we can't wait to meet her in a few weeks!!

Since Nate and I both had the 4th off, we decided to take advantage of where we are at and see some the stuff fairly close. We drove the 2 hours south west to Yosemite National Park. Neither one of us had ever been there before and it sounded fun. We did have a small mishap while there. The first couple pics are from our camera before it took at tumble. We had it set on a rock to get a pic of both of us and it turned out great, but then a gust of wind came up (we were at 10,000 ft) and just before we could grab it, it fell about 4-5 feet and cracked and jammed the lens. I was so close to crying because we hadn't even made it 10 miles into the park and seen the amazing waterfalls and other cool things. We bought 2 disposable cameras so that we could document things, since we most likely won't be making it back. So most of the pics are the greatest, but they got the job done.

We have more pics, but I am having trouble getting them to upload. We will post them when we can.

A New Favorite Thing!

So I was making a blanket for Nate's cousin who is having a little boy at the end of July and decided to try a new batting that I had heard so many good things about and I LOVED IT!!! It made the blanket so soft and snuggly that I wanted to take it to bed. It is the 100% natural cotton kind and I will never go back to the old stuff again!!!!

We had a typical day, both worked and then went to out to dinner. I made some cupcakes and we just enjoyed a quiet evening at home. He got a new video game and the Harry Potter series in Russian. Happy Birthday Nate!!!!!!!

All Work and No Play.....

makes for a boring summer. Now that Nate and I are settled in the apartment we will be in for the next few months and both working full time, we decided to take advantage of where we are at and have some fun. This past weekend we went down to Santa Barbra, CA and met up with Nate's family who were there for vacation. Even though it was a short trip with LOTS of driving (7.5 hrs each way) it was worth it. Here is a glimpse of some of our fun times.

We knew we were in Northern CA when we started to see all of the vineyards.

We stayed in a place called Solvang. It is a little tourist town where everything is a Norwegian theme. It was really pretty and fun to see all the building and little shops.

There were windmills of all sizes all over.

This was a really cool thing we saw in the window of a shop. It is a wood carving of a coat and hat hanging up. At first glance you thought it was real, but then you noticed it was fake.

On Sat afternoon we rented a some bikes and peddled our way around. This is called a Suri Bike. They had them down in Fl where I worked and they are a lot of fun, because you can fit a lot of people in them.Nate and I decided to try out one of the tandem bikes.

Later that afternoon we hiked up to see some waterfalls in the area.

Then we headed to THE BEACH!!!!! This is the beach in Santa Barbra that we went to and spent sometime just playing in the sand and enjoying the sunset.

We know it's cheesy, but we had fun writing stuff in the sand.

We had so much fun playing and watching the sail boats come and go.

There were tons of pelicans there. It was dinner time and it was fun to watch them dive in and catch their food over and over. We had a great trip, but now it's back to work.

Strangers in the Night

Ok so it was just one, but an interesting one. Last night Nate and I were reading in bed and we heard some noises outside so he got up an checked. He peeked his head back in and said grab the camera, we have a visitor. I grabbed it and went out expecting to see a deer or something, but it was a HUGE black bear eating the wild berries that grow behind us. The neighbors to the left of us decided to feed it their leftover steaks from dinner. Apparently they didn't grasp the concept of the owner staying "DO NOT FEED THE BEARS!" or read the signs that are posted all over. We will see if our visitor returns tonight for more or not. I am just glad that we are about 15 ft up from the ground.

There is still quite a bit of snow still up here so Nate and I enjoyed a little snowball fight.

This past week we have explored a few different places along Lake Tahoe. We walked through a bunch of shops and just enjoyed the beautiful weather and lake.Nate found a new place for us to live. He said it would be fun to camp out all summer and pretend that we are Indians and live here. I'm sure the rent would be cheap.

Nate found a new car today.

Nate and I have had fun finding random signs around as we explore. Here are a few. The bottom one was one that we drove past and both just started cracking up. I don't know why we find somethings so funny and there are more to come, I just haven't got pics of them yet.

We found this amusing. We where just cruising down the mountain road when we hit 99.9 miles per gallon. Too bad we can't get this all the time seeing how gas is so much more expensive out here.

Or at least I am. Nate left for CA on Sat for one last project for the Space Dynamics Lab, so yes that meant that I had to drive out here by myself. After 9 1/2 hours of driving from Logan to here I was ready to be done. Nate will be here on Wed or Thurs. It is soooo beautiful here and I can't wait to explore everything. Here are a few pics of the view for now until we find a more permanent place to stay starting in June.

To catch up on a few things that happened this past week. Nate and I met up with Morgan and Bethany for lunch in Brigham City for one last visit before we left. I can't believe that next time I see her she will be a mommy and have a little girl. Nate and I are so excited for them.

Coming and Goings

This past weekend was packed with tons of fun stuff along with lots of studying for Nate. Sat morning we went to the temple to be there with Brittney (who is a friend of mine and is marrying Nate's really good friend and old roommate Justin on Sat) as she took out her endowments. It was a packed session, but it was still nice to be apart of such a special thing.

Following that I went to lunch with 2 of my roommates from my freshman year of collage. It has been so fun to live close enough to still do things together. This was our farewell lunch. Nate and I are moving in a couple weeks to Lake Tahoe and Wendy and her husband are moving to Washington DC the last part of July. It was fun to recall the good old times.Tasma, Me, Megan, Wendy

This was our last get together (Christmas 07) Megan in now in Portland, OR working at an accounting office

Following that, Nate and I headed down to Salt Lake to meet up with my family. My cousin Steven leaves on his mission to South Africa tomorrow so we all got together and had a blast.
Saturday we met up for lunch/dinner at a place called Chadders in American Fork. It is a knockoff of In-n-Out Burger. It was pretty similar, but In-n- Out still is better.
On Sunday we all got together at my aunt and uncle's house for lunch and had fun talking and playing together. Nate and I had to leave the party early so we could get back and he could get some more studying done. Normally he never studies on Sunday, but he has 2 HUGE finals back-to-back today and needed just a bit more.This is my cousin's family

I actually have time to play around with things, such as these pictures. In the last two days I have worked 33 hours with most of that dealing with people procrastinating doing their taxes and so I am enjoying the silence and absence of numbers right now.

These are some that I am working on for a friends wedding. I have found just how much fun photo editing is.

In other news... the weather here in Logan is crazy as usual. Fri, Sat, and Sun it was absolutely gorgeous outside. I am talking in the high 60s and 70s. Monday was a bit cooler and then yesterday, what do we get but SNOW!!! Today it was nice and sunny, but a bit cold as I found out on my morning run. I wish spring would just come and stay. Anyone else in favor of that?

The Dreaded FE......

So the last few weeks have been quite stressful in our little apartment. For all you engineers you know just how dreadful the FE really is. For those of you like me, it is the Fundamentals of Engineering test. It is like the MCAT to med students and the LSAT to law student, and all those other insane tests. Utah State requires that you take it and pass by a certain percentage to graduate with a bachelor degree in any engineering field. Well, for the past few weeks Nate has been studying very hard for this test as well as keeping up with all his other class work and yesterday was the day. The test started at 7:30 am and he finished at 5:30 pm. Needless to say that he was pretty fried by the time he got home. To celebrate we got a pizza and just vegged out the rest of the night. He wont know his score for a couple of weeks, but at least it is over with. Now he just gets to finish all his big projects and study for finals. Only a few more weeks thank heavens and then it is off to Lake Tahoe for the summer.

So last weekend Nate and I were lucky enough to get tickets to the afternoon session of conference. Neither one of us had ever been so we though we would document it. I will say that riding Trax up from Sandy was the best. We didn't have to worry about finding parking and all the traffic. We just got to sit back and let someone else do the driving. Plus the stop was just a block away.

The tickets that we almost forgot on the fridge and had to come back for.
Good thing were had gone about 20 miles when
we realized that neither one of us had grab them.
It would not have been fun to miss such a great experience.

Easter

This past weekend Nate and I headed up to Twin to spend some time with my family. We had a blast. Saturday Nate and Brandon went jeeping and had fun, while I stayed and played with Elli and helped my mom make some burp cloths. That night we all headed out to my aunt's house for some good old fashion fun and to celebrate my mom's birthday. There were some pretty good gifts given! Sunday we all sat down to Easter dinner and watched Ellie open her basket from the Easter Bunny. It was a great weekend and we had a great time!Elli getting to play in all of the fun places in Grandma's kitchen!My mom found the "baby bananas" as she calls them and let Elli get a little taste of one.

Busy, Busy, Busy!!!!!!

Ok, so I know that it has been quite a while since I last posted something. Things have been quite crazy around here. After getting back home from babysitting up in Twin for a week and a half (which was such a blast hanging out with my little niece, Janessa and Danica, and getting to visit my good friend Desi and their new baby Jack) , I started a new full time job and work anywhere from 40-50 hr/week. In addition to that I drive down to Brigham City (it's about a 30 min drive) twice a week to attend a class that will help me in continuing my pursuit in getting a job in cardiac rehab. That adds about another 4-5 hours of class work and lab instruction to my crazy schedule, and then there is all the usual day-to-day stuff like making dinner, keeping the house clean, doing laundry, working out (list goes on and on). Despite all of the craziness, Nate and I are doing great. He is working away and we are both trying to get things ready for when we move this summer. We do still find time to have some fun. Last week Nate was so great. I was working late almost everyday and was in the middle of trying to get another blanket done for his cousin's wedding shower. I would stay up till past midnight measuring, cutting, and sewing to try and get it done in time. Well Friday night rolled around and as usual it was past midnight when I finished sewing everything and was so exhausted from a busy week, that I was not looking forward to the hour it would take me to cut the seams and get it ready to wash. ( I was making a rag quilt) Instead of going to bed, Nate stayed up with me cutting and doing all the finishing work. He was such a sweetheart!!! The next day on the way to Salt Lake I finished the hand embroidering of their names and wedding date just as we arrived. Thanks to a loving husband it was a success!! Nate and I celebrated our 6th month anniversary!!! I know most of you have been married a lot longer, but we are quite amazed how fast the time has gone! I will try to do better in keeping up with things in our lives. We love you all and hope things are well with all of you.

Nanny Diaries Part 2

We begin with another fun recipe. Tonight we made fun tropical drinks in honor of the girls parents' trip to Hawaii. The girls had a blast making Key Lime smoothies from lime jello and cool whip, and they didn't taste too bad either. They also had fun coming up with fun combonations for next time. Today I also had a blast with my little niece Elli. We played together all morning and then took a good nap this afternoon. We also went through 3 onesies, two different outfits and a bath because of 2 blowouts. I still don't know how I avoided getting any on me. Despite that we had some good bonding time playing pattycake and peekaboo. This was playing pattycake in outfut number one this morning.

This was Elli playing in a clean onesie with her socks (which were the only thing that didn't have to be changed) while I put all the dirty stuff in the washer to soak. And this was Elli after a bath, clean onesie #3 of the day and a new outfit loving her bunny.

The Nanny Diaries Part 1

For the past few days I have been up in Twin Falls babysitting 2 girls that I have know for the past 11 1/2 years. There is Danica who is 12 and Janessa who 7. I have also got to watch my cute little niece, Elli who is 6 months old. Whe have had some fun times already and still have a week until their parents get back from Hawaii. Here are some clips the fun stuff that we do when Mom and Dad are gone and the babysitter is in charge....
Janessa in the morning. She is a WILD sleeper. She shared the big bed with me and some how in the night ended up sideways with her feet hanging over me and her head almost off the bed.Danica, Janessa, and EliJanessa helping out with Eli. She did a good job of keeping her happy and making her smile.

This was what the girls wanted to make for dinner Sat. night. They were called octo-dogs. We cut hotdogs into the shape of octopuses, had treasure and shell pasta with alfrado sauce, and little goldfishes for some crunch. It was actually pretty good and girls had so much fun grocery shopping with me and helping me pick out stuff for dinner. Stay tuned because we have more!

They got the Nintendo Wii for Christmas so we have also had a lot of fun playing all the weird games on it. My sister Jenny also came out and gave it a try.

Our New House.....

Not really, but a girl likes to dream. Last weekend Nate and I were down in Salt Lake and took a drive up to see the progress on the new Draper Temple. We saw this house (I don't think it can be called a house. Maybe a mansion, but I think the the best word would be CASTLE) from a distance and just had to take a closer look. Sorry about the bad pics, they were taken on my phone. I had to take three different ones to fit the whole thing in and then put them together.

Candy Apple Red

So last night I finally used my new Kitchen Aid to help in perking up my domestic skills. This was a graduation present from mother-in-law Carolynn. I loved it and it looks SO CUTE in our little kitchen and matches all the other candy apple red decor like the red tea pot, flowers, and other girly stuff we decorate with. It sure did make it a lot easier to make things from scratch and Nate had fun playing with it too.

Well another adventure had presented itself to us. Nate was offered a summer internship with General Electric as a junior mechanical engineer. After much deliberation and researching we have decided to accept it, so unless something better comes along it looks like we will be spending our summer in Minden, Nevada. It is about 30 minutes outside of Lake Tahoe which means that it is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS and there is a ton of stuff to do around there. It is about 584 miles or 9 1/2 hours from Logan or about 485 miles or 7 1/2 hours from Twin. We are excited about this opportunity because it would allow Nate to add more experience and a big name in the mechanical engineer world to his resume. Right now he is currently working at the Space Dynamics Lab here at Utah State in conjunction with the Russians and NASA developing things on the International Space Station to grow plants in. He loves his work here and learning new things. He is such a Nerd sometimes.

Ode to the Hairdryer.....

So this might sound lame to many of you, but Mom I know you will understand. This morning I decided to wear my hair down. This doesn't happen very often, as those of you who know me can testify, and was in the middle of drying my hair (which honestly takes FOREVER) when all of the sudden my hair dryer made a funny noise, got REALLY RED INSIDE, and started to smell funny. I immediately turned if off and unplugged it. It had been acting funny for the past couple of weeks, but I just thought there wasn't anything really wrong with it and it was just being temperamental, but I was wrong. It had gone cuputz! It saddens me that I had to throw it away because we had so many good hair-days together. It's like that curling iron that just makes those perfect curls and it dies so you have to go get a new one and learn what setting to put it on, what way your hair will curl best around it, and just how to hold it to get that perfect look. So today as I threw it in the garbage I almost shed a tear (not really), but oh well things happen.Nate will be happy because he said it was the loudest and most obnoxious one he had ever heard and has been telling me to use my other one for a while. Now I have to revert back to my old one from Florida. Lets hope that it too will bing many good hair day!

Projects I checked off my list this week...plus a little more

So this week has been quite a productive week for me. I finished another blanket, started another one, finished the matching burp cloth for Desi's baby blanket (we'll send it to your parents house. Sorry it wasn't done when we dropped off the blanket), I also got a good deal done on Nate's and mine Christmas stockings done. (I didn't finish them for our first Christmas so I made sure that they would be done for next year) Man I just realized that one thing on my list of things to get done for Christmas is already started and it is only January. Wow! I need to do this more often. I also cooked dinner every night this week, and they were things like chicken and funeral potatoes, white chili (Thanks to Desi for the recipe. It's one of Nate's favorite), stroganoff, bake potatoes with all the fixings. Also cleaned the very cluttered and messy extra bedroom, went to the library, actually read a good chunk of one of the books in the stack that is now next to my bed, and got all the laundry done, folded, and put away. It is so weird not having to worry about school any more, but I think I will need to find more hobbies to fill my extra time.

We also got quite the storm today. We awoke to about 3 inches and it has kept coming down on and off all day. Our cars are covered, but it is so beautiful and we really need it. We are to about 6-8 inches now and it is still coming down.

Saturday Morning Breakfast Fit For A Princess

So today I decided to to pull out one of the gifts that my mom gave me for Christmas and make a fun Saturday morning breakfast.

These were some of the coolest looking waffles I have ever had!!! And of course we used matching princess and castle cups with it. Nate enjoyed them too, after rolling his eyes and laughing at how much fun I had. I told him to just wait because I will eventually get the matching toaster that toasts the glass slipper on it too.

Our 1st Christmas

It was our first Christmas and we had so much fun. This included matching PJs and socks from my mom and the warm weather in St. George. We had a great time going to movies, dinner and playing lots of card games. Nate also had a blast 4 wheeling will a bunch of his old buddies!!

Nate really wasn't on Santa's naughty list, but he does like to peak at all his gifts. Now I know that I have to either wrap his gifts right away or hide them REALLY WELL. For example I got Nate some new shoes and hid them under the bed thinking that since we no little kids it would be a good enough spot, but I was wrong. Nate found the box, but didn't look inside. So I took the shoes and wrapped each of them in a separate and completely different shaped box. When he opened one he just laughed. Now I know that when it comes to presents in the house, Nate becomes a little boy.

I absolutely LOVE chocolate covered pretzels and so what happened to be in my stocking.... LOADS of them!!!!!!

This is one of Nate's favorite new toys. It is a HUGE remote.

Early Christmas Present

This past weekend my parents brought down our Christmas gifts for us to put under the tree. One for Nate was quite LARGE and so we decided to let the little boy of a husband I have open one early because he has been a pretty good boy this year. Thanks to mom and dad for this. It is his favorite place to sit now. My mom also made this other gift for us. It might come in handy sometimes......

It's Begining to Look....

Well it's that time of year again and everyone is in out and about spreading Christmas cheer. Well Nate and I have started to decorate our little home in between studying for finals and all the other everyday tasks. Let me remind you that this is a work in progress and we will post more when we get it done next week when finals will be done! YA!!!!!!!
